HELP US SAVE 20+ EXOTIC ANIMALS IN TARPON SPRINGS

You can save rare animals recovering after a major rescue effort, including wallabies, lemurs, kangaroos, marmosets, and more, and give them a safe home in Florida.

Hey Friend,

My name is Michele, founder of the Solid Rock School and Sanctuary.

We are a K-12 school that teaches kids empathy and kindness by caring for animals.

Last week, we received a call that dozens of exotic animals needed to be saved.

We worked with authorities to retrieve these animals from an identified wildlife trafficker, but by the time we arrived, over a quarter of the animals had already passed away.

Now we need to save the rest.

The surviving 20+ animals have a variety of medical issues and need our immediate support.

Ruby, a red lemur, undergoing an exam confirming she is pregnant

A Marmosets, tail, bent and broken

These animals include lemurs, wallabies, kangaroos, marmosets, tamarins, spider monkeys, muntjac deer and more.

Many of the animals we received are sick, hungry, and scared. Some are even pregnant.

Our team has gotten right to work securing veterinary care, building enclosures, purchasing equipment, and building birthing boxes, but we need your help.

These rare animals need special fencing, custom habitats, special food, and special care.

Opal, a tricolor lemur, enjoying her new enclosure

An awesome Solid Rock volunteer preparing a tree for the primate enclosure

Three Muntjac Deer, Max, Maisie, and Mabel, eating fresh greens

Some, like Teko, have wasting disease and need special medical intervention.

Some, like Jasper and Rusty, have pre-diabetes and need a special diet to get them back to health.

We need to order native plants, build custom enclosures, add fans and climate control, and whatever we can do to nurse these animals back to health.

Our goal is to give these animals the same life as our other animals, one where they are happy, safe, and loved in their new home.

Nada, one of our first primates, resting on his bed.

Zaza, our ringtail lemur, eating his favorite snack.

Ara, one of our chinchillas, sitting on her (really) cold rock.

Time is of the essence. We have 90 days to raise the funds these animals need to survive and thrive.

Please help us rescue these rare animals and give them a sanctuary in Florida.

Solid Rock Community School Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, and all donations are tax deductible.

P.S. Solid Rock is a permitted sanctuary through the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and authorized to possess Class III wildlife. Our past wildlife rescues have included ring tail lemurs, ruffed lemurs, and marmosets. This sudden arrival of so many high-need exotic animals has pushed us beyond what we had planned for—but with your support, we can save them and give each one a safe, loving home right here in Florida.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I give?

Any amount is incredible, but here are some examples of what your donation can do:

$25 - Provide an enrichment item (toy, plant) for one of the animals

$100- Pay for a portion of materials needed to make an enclosure

$500- Pay for a vet checkup

$2,500 - Pay for the immediate care of one of the animals

What happens after we rescue them?

Many of these animals have only ever known captivity and could not survive in the wild. However, we can turn this around for them and give them a sanctuary to call home in the Tarpon Springs, FL area.

We intend to:

  • Provide incredible medical and rehabilitative care to each animal to help them recover from their horrible ordeal.

  • Provide each animal a permanent sanctuary either at our facility or another accredited sanctuary in the area.

  • Use our experience to educate and inform school children, members of the community, and the public on the importance of protecting these animals and conserving their environments.

Rescuing them today won’t just save these animals, but can inspire the next generation to help conserve and protect the animals and environments we all cherish.
